Ninjatrader - Selected Dorman, but now which broker for license key?

Having been approved by Dorman and receiving the green light to fund a Ninjatrader8 account, I now must purchase a license key.
When purchasing the license key, I must once again select a broker. My options are:
"NinjaTrader Brokerage" "City Index" "FOREX.com" "FXCM (non-US)" "Interactive Brokers" "Oanda" "TD AMERITRADE" "Multi Broker (Includes all above)" "CQG (for existing customers only)"
I'm not really sure what I'm selecting at this stage. Is there any advantage between one and another? Does choosing something like "TD Ameritrade" change anything about the platform or chart-trading abilities I've gotten used to on the Ninjatrader Demo? Does Dorman fall under "NinjaTrader Brokerage"? Is it advantageous to select "Multi Broker" so that my trades can execute on any of the above brokerages, allowing for increased liquidity?

Are there any people in here successfully using FXCM api in Python (REST or Forexconnect)

Hi everyone,
I have been trying to use FXCM API in my Python trading bot for almost a month now. I have been facing issues with both FXCM rest api and ForexConnect API which support is unable to solve. I am curious if there is anyone here using their API successfully. Have you faced the issues below? How did you manage to solve them? I am ready to give up on them, but spreads and lower unit costs keep me trying. The issues below are relevant for demo and real account.
The issues are:
  1. Getting 'unauthorized' in response after a while when using FXCM rest api. I see this issue raised in the issues on the github repo and the issues were mostly closed despite being no proper answer to them. A useful piece of advise from support is to not request Offers table for prices every second and switch to getting price updates from market subscription. I have done that, but I am still getting the 'unauthorized' error after a while (30 min / 1h / 5h / day) and trying to relogin returns the same error.
  2. Getting 'terminate called without an active exception' on ForexConnect API, which not only stops one Python script, but also kills all the running Python scripts using the ForexConnect library (!). After enabling multi-session, I was hoping that this would go away, but I am still getting this error randomly throughout the day and it still kills all the running Python scripts. It is impossible to troubleshoot because there are no error messages except for that.
Any advise would be appreciated. I am surprised with these issue and it doesn't seem that it is possible to run their API reliably - however, as far as I understand, there are a lot of people using it successfully.

Trustworthy, major Forex brokers?

I'm fairly new to Forex and have been messing around with demo accounts and small live accounts on FXCM and FX Choice, and with all these choices in brokers for forex, a random thought occurred to me. Where do people with serious money to invest in forex, i.e. $100k, go to invest? Some of these brokers look like fly by night operators. I can't see anyone wire transferring a bunch of money to an outfit in Cyprus or Belize and hoping that their money doesn't disappear overnight.

With the FXCM news what is Trading View going go to do?

I just opened a demo account to start testing strategies with FXCM (my standard account is with Forex.com). I'm glad is was just a demo account. Do you think TV partners up with forex.com?

Global Visionariez and IML My 30 day Experience

To summarize my experience with the "product." It is 99.9% stalling and wasting your time with shit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za3tUUoj2iQ and hyping their own products. Dudes acting like "whaaaaaaaa" and showing phone screens with profits. Facebook is flooded with these people showing off how their boy "[insert name here]" is selling money and yada yada. Most of the content they post and host is just recruitment hype videos to bring more people in. Seriously... Like all day every day it felt like. Most the videos feature some hipsters and text screenshots of them being like: "OMG I gots some mad pips brah, 100 million pipz lulz #winning [intense sarcasm]."
Do yourself a favor and unfriend anyone who tries to sell you this shit. Because they are not your friend, and they view you as a $35 a month paycheck if you sign up. Most the common stuff you see in groups is people touting the wins, but don't fool yourself... Everyone is keeping their losses quiet because no one wants to make a fool out of themselves. I mean who makes videos of them watching someone else in video chat? Someone who doesn't know what the hell their doing or how to work technology... Which they happen to have some miracle program that will "change" your life. Oh, and the haters, HA you should just ignore them because they all don't like grape koolaide.
TL:DR Oh, look ma some YOLO saying swag fags are saying they can teach me to make mad bread. But it is just a job selling a job selling jobs to other people who in turn will be selling said jobs to others who will do the same.

FXCM vs. Pepperstone

Whatsup Forex,
I'm looking into brokers and I've narrowed it down to these two. I live in Australia and have been demo trading with FXCM which has been fine. But I want the best for my current situation.
I am a short term trader, usually 20-90 minute long traders, 10-50 pips depending on currency and market conditions. Account will start with a couple of hundred dollars until I am comfortable with putting more in.
So my question is, to those who have used one / both, what has been your impressions?
Cheers!
EDIT: Important point I forgot to mention, must also have mobile platform

Oanda's spreads are HUGE

Oanda is considered by many on /forex to be the best broker. Apart from all the pros, its spreads are extremely high relative to other legitimate brokers. I used Myfxbook to compare spreads. The brokers I compared are from this list. I used EUUSD as the independent variable.
Oanda: 8.6
FXCM: 0.4
Forex.com: 5.6
Pepperstone: 1.0
Darwinex: 0.9
IC Markets: 0.9
Exness: 3.1
RoboForex: 7.7
Oanda has the highest spreads. 21.5x FXCM's spreads! I opened a demo account in Oanda, but after comparing their spreads to other brokers, I will probably not open a live account with them. Other legitimate brokers have smaller spreads, why open an account with Oanda?

Are there any good brokers?

I'm an Australian living in china and have been trading on shenzhen and shanghai for about 5 years and have done well. I wanted a little more action since the market here is only open 4 hours a day so I thought I'd look into forex. I traded with a demo account the past six months and now want to open a real account. The issue is that every broker seems to be a disaster in one way or another if online reviews are to be believed. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble since I've never had to deal with any issues whatsoever with my stock market broker.
I would be opening an account with about $500 at first because from all the stories online I wouldn't be comfortable with more at first. But would ultimately like to trade with 40,000-80,000. I narrowed my choices down to fxcm, oanda and pepperstone. With a small account on fxcm and oanda you get dealing desk which is not ideal. But with a razor account on pepperstone you get ecm but people say you can get massive slippage sometimes. So I have to ask is it even worth the trouble? Is there any straight up legitimate brokers who do what they should make their money of spread and have no issues withdrawing etc?

Trading station and spread betting

Got myself an FXCM demo spread betting account and getting to grips with the trading station platform.
The live spread quoted on the FXCM website has EUUSD at ~0.4pips for spread betting but Trading station gives me a 1.4 spread. It is definitely a spread betting account and is stated at the top of the window, but I don't know if I need to tell it I want to enter a trade as a spread bet rather than a standard forex trade.
Could this be due it being a demo or is there a setting I need to select to alter the trade type get the actual spread betting spread and commission rather than the standard spread?
I'm asking here because I have struggled to unearth much on their website.

Help me to choose a broker -- Oanda, FXCM, forex.com, FXDD

Hi all,
I posted this thread on a Forex forum, I re-post it here hoping to get more advice.
I live in China, and I'm a newbie to Forex trading. I plan to deposit 5,000 USD to experiment Forex trading after I get used to the demo account. After I'm OK with 5K USD, I may invest not less than 10K.
I'm struggling to choose a broker, here are my criteria,
1, Allow hedging. I'm 100% wanting this. Indeed I'm not going to hedge the same amount of money at the same time to earn quick money (which is often used in big news event). What I want to do is, I have a long term position which will be there for several weeks, then I do some short term positions (intraday or several days). That's possible that I have two positions in two directions at the same time.
2, Money safety. During my Googling, I found that some brokers close a trader's account just because he/she earns too much money.
3, 100:1 leverage. 50:1 is not too bad but 100:1 gives me more flexibility.
4, Prefer to NDD (ECN or STP), but DD and MM is acceptable if money safety is guaranteed.
5, Regulates with NFA or FCA.
6, Support depositing using credit card. This is cheapest way for me, at least cheaper than wire transfer.
7, Easy to open an account. I prefer to open an account via internet only so I don't need post a lot of certifications to the broker.
The other points except 1 are tolerant, but I really want point 1 and I think it will be important to me.
Now comes to the brokers I've done some research on. I've checked a little with Oanda, FXCM, forex.com, and FXDD.
Oanda, the most money safety one. 50 leverage. However, it doesn't allow hedging.
All other brokers in my list are not as same money safety as Oanda.
FXCM, the one that's really annoying me is the margin. Why margin for a lot of EURUSD is $750? That's really weird and is not connected to the real price. Can any one explain to me?
Forex.com, as big as FXCM, but in the event that ECB put down the interest to 0.25% at Nov.7 this year, a lot of Chinese traders get network error and lost money. That scared me.
FXDD, not as old as Oanda, and not as big as FXCM and Forex.com, and registered in Malta...
So, what's your advice of a proper broker for me? The one not on my list is OK too.
Thanks
EDIT: another disadvantage of Oanda is that they have 6 candles a week, but it's a trivial problem since I can use other broker's MT4 for technical analysis.

DAE backtested popular forex indicators ?

I started with forex trading recently, ( demo account, <2% per trade, log all trades into excel, testing, etc...). When i read about technical analysis, there`s minimum strict rules and almost all indicators are recommended to try because all other people believe they are useful in some situation.
does anybody backtested all those indicators, should we blindly believe and try all indicators in our strategy ? I know that majority of people is using them but are there actually any proofs that those indicators really helps you ?
Moving averages are not rocket science, but what i should think about fibonacci or SAR ? I was like WTF when i was reading about these...
All traders say don't trade just because of "good feeling" but we do actually trade just because "blue indicator" is near or "red indicator" - that`s just naive approach.
I know that technical analysis is just one part of complex forex world ,but i believe we all should backtest automatically basic indicators to see when they really helps, this would greatly help people to develop better strategies.
Do you know any papers/studies or blogs of forex people with more engineering approach to forex ?
I really liked traits-of-successful-traders-guide from fxcm, its not technical analysis but they are telling you about basics facts e.g. best hours, success of sample strategies, effective leverage - thats how tutorial for beginners should look like. Babypips.com are maybe informative but very very naive, not explaning numbers much.
Thanks.

Best Forex platform to demo with?

Hi forex, I've recently started reading anything I can get my hands on about Forex and wanted to open a demo account as I feel having a hands on approach would really help me understand all that I am reading. I was wondering which are the best/most used Forex platforms or sites out there, at the minute I have been looking at FXCM however, they only allow you to hold the demo account for a month and I'd like longer. Thanks for your input!

Brokerages:
There are many factors to consider when choosing a brokerage. Regulations typically force US traders to only trade at US brokerages, while international traders have more choice. After considering location you need to consider how much capital you will start trading with as many have minimum deposit levels. Once you’ve narrowed that down you can compared spreads and execution. ECN brokers execute your orders straight through to their liquidity providers, while market maker brokers may pair up your trades with other clients. Market maker brokers typically will partially hedge your positions on the interbank market. Many consider this to be a conflict of interest and prefer to trade at an ECN broker who would have an active motive to see you succeed. Lastly, brokers run inherently risky business models so it is important to consider the risk of bankruptcy.

FAQ:
I need to exchange money, how do I do it?
This isn’t what this sub is for. Your best bet is using your bank or an online exchange service. Be prepared to pay a hefty fee.
I have money in one currency and need to exchange it into another sometime in the future, should I wait?
Don’t ask us this. We speculate intraday in FX and shouldn’t be relied on to tell you what’s best for you. Exchange the money when you need it.
I have an FX account, should I start trading demo or live?
This is highly debatable. You should definitely demo trade until you have mastered how to use the trading platform on desktop and mobile. After that it’s up to you. Many think that the psychology of trading live vs demo trading is massively different. So it may pay to learn to trade live. Just be warned that most FX traders lose almost their entire first account so start with a low affordable balance.
What’s money management?
Money management is a form of risk management and is arguably the most important aspect of your trading when it comes to long term survival. You should always enter trades with a stop loss - the distance of the stop allows you to calculate how large of a percent of your account balance will be lost if your trade stops out. You can run a monte carlo simulation to figure out the risk of having a number of trades go against you in a row to drain your account. The general rule is that you should only risk losing 1-4% of your account per trade entered.
More on this here: www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/06/fxmoneymgmt.asp[35]
www.swing-trade-stocks.com/money-management.html[36]
What about automated trading?
Retail FX traders have been known to program “Expert Advisors” (EAs) to automate trading. It’s generally advisable to stay away from that until you’re very experienced. Never buy an EA from a developer because the vast majority of them are scams.
What indicators are best?
That’s up to you to test and find out. Many in this forum dislike oscillating indicators since they fail to capture the essence of what moves price. With experience you will discover what works best for you. In my experience indicators that are most popular with professional traders are those that provide trading “levels” such as pivot points, fibonacci, moving averages, trendlines, etc.
What timeframe should I trade?
Price action can vary in different timeframes. In longer term timeframes the price action and fundamentals are much more clear. Unfortunately it would take a very long time to figure out whether or not what you’re doing is successful on longer timeframes. In shorter timeframes you can often tell very quickly if what you’re doing is profitable. Unfortunately there’s a lot more “noise” on these levels which can prove deceptive for those trying to learn. Therefore the best bet is to use a multi-timeframe analysis, working from top-down to come up with trades.
Should I trade using fundamental analysis (FA) of technical analysis (TA)?
This is a long standing argument in these forums and elsewhere. I’ll settle it here - you should have an understanding of both. Yes there are traders who blindly ignore one of the other but a truly well rounded trader should understand and implement both into the analysis. The market is driven in the longer term through FA. But TA is necessary to give traders a place to enter and exit trades from a psychological risk/reward standpoint.
I’ve heard trading Binary Options is an easy way to make money?
The general advice is to stay away from binaries. The structure of binary options is so that when you lose the broker wins. This incentive has created a very scammy industry where there are few legitimate binary options brokers. In addition in order to be profitable in binaries you have to win 55-65% of the time. That’s a much higher premium over spot FX.
Am I actually exchanging currencies?
Yes and no. Your broker handles spot FX is currency pairs. Although they make an exchange at the settlement date they treat your position in your account as a virtual currency pair. Think of it like a contract where you can only buy or sell it as a pair. In this sense you are always long one currency while short another. You are merely speculating that one currency will appreciate or depreciate vs another.
Why didn't my order fill?
Even if price appears to cross over a line on your chart it does not guarantee a fill. Different charting platforms chart different prices - some chart the bid price, some the ask price and some the midpoint price. To fill a limit order price needs to cross your limit's price plus the spread at the time that it is crossing. If it does not equal or exceed the spread then it will not fill. Be wary that in general spreads are not fixed. So what may fill at one time may not at another.
